Let’s Get this Conversation Started!

The YES Theatre Residency is 14-week project for teens led by the New York City Department of Transportation and Family Life Theatre. This year, six schools participated in the project, which included a variety of learning, acting and writing sessions and culminated in a peer presentation.

In one workshop, students wrote phrases that had dual meanings in life and traffic scenarios.  They are meant to get the conversation started.  Why do we make dangerous choices?  What makes us go against our better judgment?  How can the choices we make keep ourselves and the ones we care about safe?

As a pedestrian, bicyclist, passenger or driver, what do these messages mean to you?
